University of Iowa professor awarded $1M ‘Nobel Prize for statistics’

Belgium’s King Baudouin Foundation awarded professor Luke Tierney the 2026 Rousseeuw Prize for Statistics — a $1 million award, described as the field’s Nobel Prize — Tierney was one of five core laureates honored.
